Hummingbird visiting Oreocallis grandiflora in Ecuador |
The Andes of
South America are a hotspot of biodiversity for a diverse array of plants and
animals. They are also home to many unique plant-pollinator systems, however
very few have been thoroughly described in terms of floral and pollination
ecology. In this study we described the floral and pollination ecology of a
widespread Andean tree, Oreocallis
grandiflora, in the Proteaceae family.
